Bitter Melon Leaf (Phoenix Community Garden)
The bitter melon leaf is a traditional medicinal herb from the tropical vine which is extensively found throughout Africa, Caribbean, India, China and Southeast Asia, this leaf was grown in Brooklyn at the Phoenix Community Garden.
The hope is with fermentation we encapsulate the benefits found in the leaves which possess anti-hyperglycaemic, anti-diabetic, anti-oxidant, anthelminthic, emetic, anti-microbial, anti-hepatotoxic, purgative, antiviral and anti-ulcerogenic properties.
Fun fact.... Bitter melon leaves are loaded with vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron, vitamin B and phosphorus
